Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Discovery Center is open to visitors at San Simeon Bay. Staffed by trained docents – many of whom have volunteer experience at the Morro Bay Natural History Museum, Hearst Castle, Friends of the Elephant Seals, and the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse – the Discovery Center features a tank of live rainbow trout, a talking tidepool, and a video voyage to the deep sea.
